About Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Branch

History

The Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Library is a vibrant and active community space. The 13,233 square-foot building houses a collection of over 50,000 items including books, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-Rays, magazines, and even cake pans.

This library received its namesake from a physician, community advocate, founder of the local Spanish American Genealogical Association, and long-time resident Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia.

It is one of the newest libraries in the Corpus Christi Public Libraries system. Since opening its door in 2009, this branch has become a vibrant center of activity for residents and visitors in and around the Southside area.

Attractions

The Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia library provides an environment that invites reading, learning, and community discussion. The library houses open areas with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in natural lighting, a beautiful aquatic window mural, and a La Retama Window, in the children’s area, donated by Beverly Wallace and Family. We have several areas with relaxing seating and power outlet-equipped work areas. Our library is also centrally located at Brockhampton Park, Kaffie Middle School, Veterans High School, and Faye Webb Elementary.
