Judicial Department
The Judicial Department is comprised of six full-time judges and six part-time judges who oversee the adjudication process in the courtrooms of the Municipal Court. They conduct court arraignments where defendants make their initial pleas. Judges preside over bench trials, jury trials, contempt proceedings, indigent hearings, pre-trials, motion hearings, show cause hearings, animal hearings, property hearings and other court proceedings.
The judges also perform magistrate functions at the Detention Center. The magistrate functions include administering warnings to those arrested, setting bail, issuing arrest warrants, search warrants, and summonses.

Our mission is to provide the people in Corpus Christi with a fair and impartial Court in the adjudication of Municipal Court cases.
Mission Elements
- Uphold the integrity & independence of the Judiciary(Canon 1 of Judicial Conduct)
- Preside over and rule on cases in Municipal Court and dispose of all judicial matters promptly, efficiently and fairly. (Canon 9 of Judicial Conduct)
- Magistrate defendants arrested by City Police, set bonds, issue warrants and Emergency Protective Orders, impartially and diligently

Our mission is to provide the citizens of Corpus Christi, Texas with a fair and impartial court of law by interpreting and adjudicating applicable state laws and city ordinances. Municipal Court strives to provide efficient and effective services through the promotion of justice.
Please note that a payment will result in a judgment and conviction which will be reported to the Texas Department of Public safety and be placed on your driving record or criminal history, if applicable.

Court Location
Municipal Court is open to the public from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours on Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Municipal Court encourages the public to resolve their case online, by email, mail, or by phone.
