City Continues to Monitor Storm Beryl

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi is closely monitoring Storm Beryl, which is currently moving northwest at 13 mph over the southwest Gulf of Mexico. Beryl could strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall on Monday morning.

Warnings and Watches:

•           Hurricane Warning has been issued for Nueces County.

•           Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Nueces County.

•           Storm Surge Warning is in effect from North Padre Island National Seashore to Sargent.

Impact Summary for the Coastal Bend:

•           Winds: Sustained winds of 60-80 mph with gusts reaching 100 mph are anticipated along the coast.

•           Storm Surge/Coastal Flooding: Areas may experience up to 6 feet of storm surge from Sunday through Monday.

•           Rainfall: The Coastal Bend may see 5-10 inches of rain, with isolated totals up to 15 inches. This could result in major flooding.

•           Tornadoes: Scattered tornadoes are possible, particularly in regions from Live Oak County to Nueces County.

Preparations and Recommendations:

Residents are strongly encouraged to finalize their emergency plans and secure loose outdoor items. The City will provide additional weather updates tomorrow after receiving a weather briefing from the National Weather Service.
