City Council Authorizes Service Agreement for Elderly Meal Delivery Program
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX–At today's regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved a three-year service agreement with R&R Delivery Service for the Elderly Nutrition Program, which provides home-delivered meals to eligible seniors.
The $738,000 contract is funded through the FY 2025 budget with $162,000 from the Elderly Nutrition Program Grant Fund.
The Elderly Nutrition Program has been in service since the early 1970s and delivers approximately 600 meals Monday through Friday, city-wide.
“The City of Corpus Christi deeply values our senior citizens and recognizes the incredible contributions they have made to our community,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “This service agreement reflects our commitment to honoring and caring for them by ensuring that over 600 nutritious meals are delivered daily to those who need them most. Our seniors deserve dignity, support, and connection, and through programs like this, we reaffirm our dedication to their well-being and independence.”
“This program offers healthy meals to homebound seniors with limited mobility in our community so they can live healthier lives in their own homes,” said Robert Dodd, Director of Parks & Recreation Department.
