Cole Park Pier Plaza Improvements Set to Begin April 15

Shade Structures Scheduled for Installation

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department will close the Cole Park Pier Plaza at 2030 Ocean Drive for shade structure installation beginning on Tuesday, April 15. The improvements are scheduled for completion in the late summer, weather permitting.

Cole Park will remain open for patrons to use other amenities, including the pier, playground, skate park, walking trail, and amphitheater. To maintain public safety, patrons are asked to be aware of cautionary signage and temporary barriers at the work site.

The Cole Park Pier Plaza opened to the public in December 2021. The Park Plaza Shade Structure will provide improved accommodation for outdoor gatherings and visits to the park.

The construction project includes installing a two-colored, four-paneled shade structure with 12 concrete columns. Each column will have lighting, and the four corner columns will have electrical outlets. The structure will be composed of stamped concrete and finished to match the existing look of the Pier.
