City Selects 15 Engineering Firms for Street Work
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – During today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved 15 engineering firms for design work on $23 million in street projects included in Bond 2024 and the City’s capital improvement plan.
The mass selection is more efficient for the City than working through individual contracts. Firms can apply to several projects simultaneously, and city staff can review them in a competitive selection process. This is the third time a mass selection has been made, which allows bond projects to avoid delays in the bidding process.
The scope of work for these projects includes designing new streets or rehabilitating existing roads and sidewalks, as well as any related surface improvements, storm drainage improvements, water, wastewater, and storm drainage improvements. The street projects are citywide.
All Bond 2024 street projects should enter the design phase by May or June.
Firms were selected based on experience, project approach, management plan, capacity and past performance.
Construction contracts will be competitively bid later and presented for action individually.
“The selection of these 15 engineering firms demonstrates our city’s proactive approach to addressing street infrastructure,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “By expanding our professional partnerships, we are increasing capacity, streamlining project timelines, and delivering the high-quality improvements our residents expect and deserve. This is a strong step forward for Corpus Christi.”
