Vector Control Mosquito Spraying Schedule and Routes
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— Vector Control actively manages mosquito populations year-round, increasing services from March to November when rain and standing water create ideal conditions for mosquito hatching. Recently, the mosquito population has remained low due to extended periods of drought.
Due to the anticipated rain this week, Vector Control will begin spraying for mosquitoes on Monday, March 31. Depending on environmental conditions, mosquitoes can hatch within as little as four days, while others may take up to a month.
Vector Control will treat adult and larval mosquitoes to manage the potential rise in the mosquito population after the potential rain event. Vector Control applies larvicides to areas likely to collect stagnant water following rainfall and conducts evening sprays for adult mosquitoes. The spraying is carried out at night when traffic is minimal. Vector Control avoids spraying during inclement weather, high winds, or when people are nearby outdoors.
Below is the schedule from Monday, March 31, to Friday, April 4.
Date | Adult Mosquito Spray Zone | Mosquito Larvae Control Zone |
Monday, March 31 | 1, 2, 3 | 4, 5, 6 |
Tuesday, April 1 | 7, 8, 9 | 10, 11, 14 |
Wednesday, April 2 | 12, 13 | 17, 19, 20 |
Thursday, April 3 | 15, 16, 18 | 21, 22 |
Friday, April 4 | 23, 24, 25 | 26, 27, 28 |
The route schedule may change due to bad weather and high wind speeds. It can also be adjusted based on the mosquito population or if a vector-borne disease is identified in the city. See the Mosquito Spray Route Map below.
Larviciding, controlling mosquito larvae before they become adults, is conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Adulticiding (spraying), the control of adult mosquitoes that are nuisances, is conducted during evening hours from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
