Vector Control Mosquito Treatment Schedule and Routes

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— Vector Control is actively working to manage mosquito populations across the city.

By conducting regular maintenance and targeting mosquito breeding grounds, particularly areas with standing water, they aim to significantly reduce the presence of mosquitoes and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.

Vector Control places larvicide tablets in stagnant water areas in the afternoon and then sprays for adult mosquitoes in the evening. If the mosquito population remains elevated, the City will continue these efforts.

Below is the schedule from Monday, April 14, to Friday, April 18.

Date Adult Mosquito Spray Zone Mosquito Larvae Control Zone
Monday, April 14 4, 5, 6 1, 2, 3
Tuesday, April 15 10, 11, 14 7, 8, 9
Wednesday, April 16 17, 19,  20 12, 13
Thursday, April 17  21, 22 15, 16, 18
Friday, April 18 26, 27, 28 23, 24, 25

The route schedule may change due to bad weather and high wind speeds. It can also be adjusted based on the mosquito population or if a vector-borne disease is identified in the city. See the Mosquito Spray Route Map below.

Larviciding, controlling mosquito larvae before they become adults, is conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Adulticiding (spraying), the control of adult mosquitoes that are nuisances, is conducted during evening hours from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The Vector Control program reminds the public to keep themselves safe and help by caring for their property by ensuring grass and shrubs are properly trimmed.  Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, so help reduce mosquito breeding grounds by draining any standing water, including water that collects in empty cans, tires, buckets, clogged rain gutters, and saucers under potted plants.

Vector Control typically sprays at night when traffic conditions are minimal. Due to State and Federal Mandates, Vector Control cannot spray in areas near a body of water when wind conditions are not optimal or in proximity to individuals who are outdoors.

The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District recommends the following 5 Ds of Defense:

DEET – If you are outside, use insect repellent containing DEET.

DRESS – Dress in long sleeves and pants when you’re outside.

DAWN, DAYTIME, and DUSK—Mosquitoes are most active at dawn, daytime, and dusk. Avoid being outside during these times of the day.

DRAIN – Curb mosquito breeding areas by draining standing water.

DOCTOR – Consult your physician if you feel sick after being bitten.

Please call 311 to report abandoned property, high grass, or standing water.
