Water Flushing Program

For residents that are selected to participate, Corpus Christi Water employees will re-use water that was released from flushing fire hydrants to water your yard. 

Should you choose to participate or continue your participation, please fill out the Participation Waiver so that our records can be updated to ensure proper water reuse.

Flushing is the opening of a fire hydrant allowing the water to discharge. This creates an artificial demand and assists with maintaining water quality.

The City has approximately 1,900 dead end mains in the water distribution system. Each dead end main must be flushed monthly per the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Yes, there are not any water restrictions while lines are being flushed.

The City tests the disinfectant level as well as the pH while flushing lines.
