Clinical, Environmental, and Infectious Disease Testing
Mission Statement
The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District (CCNCPHD) Laboratory is a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) certified facility that provides environmental bacterial testing of marine water, as well as clinical testing for sexually transmitted and other infectious diseases. As part of the Laboratory Response Network (LRN), the CCNCPHD Lab plays a pivotal role in public health response to biological threats as well as other public health emergencies.
Services & Programs
BSL-3 Laboratory Response Network Services
Our laboratory actively tests for emerging infectious diseases and agents of bioterrorism as part of Laboratory Response Network thru the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Environmental Testing
We partner with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) in testing local recreational waters for evidence of high levels of bacterial contamination. Test results for sites along our coast are shared on the Texas Beach Watch website.
Clinical STI Testing
Our lab offers testing for sexually transmitted infections to clients of our partnering clinical providers. This testing includes infections due to gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis.
