Communicable Disease Surveillance and Investigations
The PHEP program conducts disease surveillance, investigations, and reporting of infectious diseases in Nueces County, except Tuberculosis and most Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). The Texas Notifiable Conditions investigated include food-borne, waterborne, invasive respiratory, zoonotic, and healthcare-associated infectious diseases.
We also monitor and respond to unusual expressions of disease and infectious disease outbreaks.
