Communicable Disease Surveillance and Investigations
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) program conducts disease surveillance, investigations, and reporting of infectious diseases in Nueces County, except Tuberculosis and most Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), which are covered by the Tuberculosis Clinic and STI/HIV clinic, respectively. The Texas Notifiable Conditions investigated include foodborne, waterborne, invasive respiratory, vaccine-preventable, zoonotic, and healthcare-associated infectious diseases.
