Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)
Strategic National Stockpile is a federally sponsored repository of life-saving medical countermeasures- pharmaceuticals and medical materiel/supplies, that can be deployed to the population to prevent, mitigate, or treat the adverse health effects of a public health emergency.
The PHEP program’s goal is to coordinate with health department staff and community partners on operational plans and resources towards the timely dispensing/administration of medical countermeasures based on incident needs. Examples of medical countermeasures are vaccines, antiviral drugs, antibiotics, and antitoxins.
