Fight the Bite

Mosquito Tip: Tall grass and standing water can turn your yard into a mosquito breeding ground. Keeping your lawn trimmed and clearing out any buckets, planters, or containers that hold water helps to keep the mosquito population down in your yard. Let’s work together to protect our community!

Mosquito Prevention At Your Home: Mow Tall Grass, Eliminate Standing Water

The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District recommends following the 5 Ds of Defense:

  1. DEET – If you will be outside - use insect repellent containing DEET

  2. DRESS – Dress in long sleeves and pants when you’re outside.

  3. DAWN, DAYTIME, and DUSK—Mosquitoes are most active at dawn, daytime, and dusk. Avoid being outside during these times of the day.

  4. DRAIN – Curb mosquito breeding areas by draining standing water.

  5. DOCTOR – Consult your physician if you feel sick after being bitten.
