Beach Flag Warning System

We use a beach flag warning system to inform the public about water and weather conditions. Before you enter the water, learn what the five colored flags mean. 

Know the surf conditions before you head to our gulf beaches. We want you to play it safe and have a wonderful experience. "Like" us on Facebook to get these daily updates on your phone posted as stories.

Green – Go

Conditions are calm. 
Swim with care.

Yellow – Caution

Caution should be used when entering any body of water. This flag is flown for normal conditions to remind swimmers to stay alert.

Red – Stop

Conditions are shown to be out of the ordinary. Strong wind, strong current, or large surf my be present. Adult swimmers should stay in water no more than waist-deep. Non-swimmers and children should be kept along the surf line.

Purple – Marine Life

Indicates a potential problem with Jellyfish, Portuguese man-o-war, stingrays or other marine life that could be a hazard to swimmers.

Orange – Environmental

Indicates there is an environmental warning for air and/or water quality. Ask the lifeguard for more details.
