After Hour Kid Power Program

Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation operates the After Hour Kid Power Program (formerly named Latchkey). After Hour Kid Power offers an after school program, school break day camps, and summer camps for youth ages 5 to 13. It is licensed by Texas Health and Human Services. It is the answer for working and busy parents concerned about leaving their children in unsupervised environments. 

Our dynamic and creative staff is trained in child development and age-appropriate activities to encourage engagement from the children. All staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid. Children in the program build positive self-esteem through involvement in a wide range of activities, including recreation, creativity, and fitness.

After School Program

The after school program for the 2024–2025 school year will run from August 2024 to May 2025, Monday through Friday, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. This program is run in partnership with the Corpus Christi ISD and  Calallen ISD.

To sign up for this program, add your child's name to the Interest List, linked below. Please note that by adding your information to the interest list, you are not guaranteed a position for the school year until you receive a phone call with further instructions. For detailed instructions on how to sign up, please view the Sign Up Instructions document. 

The online form opens on May 6, 2024 at 9 a.m. and will remain open until full. Registration will only be available online and will continue throughout the year, if spaces become available.

Tuition Fees and Payment

Tuition is due on or before the first business day of each month. Late payment fees are assessed on the second day of each month (even if it is on a weekend). Fees listed below do not include late payment, late pick-up, and other fees. For a complete explanation of all fees, review the Parent Handbook.

Vacation Station Camps

This camp program is for youth ages 5 to 13. It is the answer for working and busy parents concerned about leaving their children in unsupervised environments during school breaks. Camp will be offered from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Campers will enjoy days filled with fun and constructive activities that include arts and crafts, sports, gaming tournaments, and more. For more information, please call (361) 826-3499

2024–2025 Winter Break

The 2024-2025 Winter Break Vacation Station camp will be held between December 23–27, and December 30, 2024–January 3, 2025. View the Winter Break Vacation Station flyer linked below for more details, or click the Register Here button to add your child to the Interest List.

Meal plans are as follows:

  • Galvan Elementary School will provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
  • East Elementary School will provide breakfast and an afternoon snack. Children must bring their own sack lunch.

Summer Camps

After Hour Kid Power Summer Camps 2024 have concluded for the year. Please return to this page in April 2025 for next year's registration information and more details.

This fun enrichment program operates annually for youth ages 5 to 13 from June through August. It features a variety of activities, such as arts and crafts, guest speakers, and games. The curriculum is designed for children to develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends, and discover new interests. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Campers must bring their own lunch. We understand that finding the right summer camp for your child, schedule, and budget can be challenging. This camp is the answer for parents! 

Summer Camp Fees

Additional Information

One-Time Activity Fee: $25 is required at registration for school year and summer camps.
Late Payment Fee:
 $20/child if paid one day late and $5 for each additional day not paid.
Late Pick-Up Fee: $10 per 15 minutes, starting at 6:01 p.m. 

Notice:

  • Tuition is due on or before the first business day of each month. Late payment fees are assessed on the second day of each month.

  • Fees may be subject to change pending budget approval.
