Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

The AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program provides grants to organizations with a dual purpose: to engage Americans 55 years and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high-quality experience for the volunteers.  Since 1977, the City of Corpus Christi has been the local sponsor for RSVP. The RSVP program serves all of Nueces County and currently has over 250 active volunteers.

RSVP staff matches volunteers’ interests and schedules with several opportunities from non-profit agencies called Volunteer Stations that are registered with the RSVP program. As we continue to answer the call to promote senior volunteerism, whatever your volunteer interests may be, we take pride in assuring that RSVP Volunteers lead with experience

To become a volunteer, you must complete the RSVP Volunteer Enrollment Form below. If you would like more information on becoming an RSVP Volunteer Station, please call (361) 826-3136.

Become an RSVP Volunteer

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3: (1) you must be at least 55 years of age to enroll, (2) you must complete a monthly time sheet to receive credit for your volunteer service hours, and (3) you must be willing to work without compensation.

Once enrolled, RSVP Volunteers are required to attend orientation and serve at least four hours per month at a registered volunteer station to remain active in the program.

Volunteers may choose to serve at one or more volunteer stations, commit to one or more assignments, and choose the number of hours according to their schedule.

RSVP Volunteers have benefits such as FREE Supplemental Insurance that cover them while traveling to and from their assignments and while on duty. Numerous events are held throughout the year to recognize volunteers for their service.

For more information on becoming an RSVP Volunteer, please call the RSVP program office at (361) 826-3136

RSVP Frequently Asked Questions

A Volunteer Station is a public agency, secular or faith-based, private non-profit organization, or proprietary health care organization that accepts the responsibility for assignment and supervision of RSVP volunteers in health, education, social service or related settings such as multipurpose centers, home health care agencies, or similar establishments.

Each volunteer station must be licensed or otherwise certified, when required, by the appropriate state or local government. Private homes are not volunteer stations.

Agencies must sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Corpus Christi before being approved as registered volunteer stations.
