I filed a police report, now what?
Answer: The police report will be reviewed by a supervisor and forwarded to a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
The CID Lieutenant will review the report and assign it to a detective.
The detective assigned to the case will review the case to determine whether or not additional information is needed to proceed with the case.
If more information is needed, the detective will contact you.
If all information is included, the detective will forward the case to the proper agency to file charges. This could be to Municipal Court (361-886-2500) or the District Attorney’s Office (361-888-0410).
