Maintaining the Sparkling City by the Sea

Recycling

Recycling saves natural resources and energy. Many everyday items are recyclable through the City's curbside recycling program. The program accepts paper, plastic, cardboard, and metals. There is no need to sort recyclables. Be sure to give them a quick rinse and empty all liquids before placing them in the blue recycling cart. When you Recycle Right, you're reducing pollution and greenhouse gasses in our community.

CC Recycles Waste Wizard

Type the name of a waste item below and we'll tell you how to recycle or dispose of it.

Recycling

Thank you for recycling these items right! Paper, Plastic, and Cans. Make sure items are empty, rinsed, clean, loose and dry. Download the CC Recycles App today to use the recycle item search feature, find pick-up schedules, and more!

Search Topics

Search common topics listed below the search bar. As you type, the results will change the results listed to match your search.

Appliances

You can recycle large appliances, but not in the blue recycling cart. Small electric appliances belong in your trash cart. Large appliances can be dropped off for recycling at the J.C. Elliott Transfer Station.

Bags

Bags and contents are considered trash. Do not bag recyclables. Plastic bags create processing problems as they become tangled or melt into the gears of the recycling equipment. They cause damage, delays, and costly repairs. Drop off plastic shopping bags, shrink wrap, dry cleaning, and bread bags at your favorite grocery shopping store.

Batteries

Place these common household batteries in the trash cart. Landfills safely accommodate this type of waste.

Boxes

The City offers a one-time pick-up of moving boxes. Contact the City's Call Center by dialing 311.

Broken Cart

Use the CC Recycles app to Report a Problem or contact the City's Call Center by dialing 311 to get a replacement cart.

Caps / Lids

Please remove caps and lids. Bottle caps cannot be recycled at our facilities.

CC Recycles

CC Recycles is an app that is available free of charge for customers to download onto their mobile phones or tablets. The app contains collection schedules and offers tips on recycling.

K-Cups

Commonly referred to as K-Cups, these plastic containers are smaller than a credit card, contain multiple materials, and are prohibited by our program.

Litter Critter

Litter Critter events accept everyday items that are not recyclable in our local program. Recycling may be taken to Republic Services at 4414 Agnes or the J.C. Elliott Transfer Station at 4001 Ayers for processing.

Milk Cartons

Milk, juice, stock, and wine cartons are often covered in food-grade wax or lined in plastic. Corpus Christi recycling facilities do not process these mixed materials.

Oops! Tags

The Oops! tag identifies which item(s) contaminates the blue recycling cart. Be sure to throw these items in the trash. The cart contents will be collected and processed for recycling as usual.

Learn more about Recycle Tags here.

Recycle Right

Recycle Right is a local program to improve recycling habits through education. The goal is to reduce the amount of trash in recycling carts.

Return a Cart

Carts are property of the City. If you no longer want your recycling cart, contact the City's Call Center by dialing 311. Our team will place a work order to pick up your blue recycling cart.

Second Cart

Contact the City's Call Center by dialing 311 for more information on obtaining a second recycling cart. There is no fee for obtaining a second recycling cart.

Store Donations

For items that cannot be recycled through our program, local retailers and organizations offer opportunities to donate reusable goods and recycle some items. Please check with your favorite grocery, hardware, retailer, dry-cleaner, and other organizations for information about their programs.

Wash Recyclables

Plastic containers, aluminum, and steel cans need a quick rinse of residue before tossing into the blue recycling cart.
