Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

We have numerous opportunities for volunteers to contribute their time, talent and expertise within the Corpus Christi Police Department by joining Volunteers in Police Service today!

Our VIPS are an integral and essential element of our success that increase our ability to provide world-class service to our neighborhoods and citizens of our community.

We strive to place you in an area of the department that is of interest to you and where your skills and talents best match the requirements of the position currently available. Orientation and specialized training is provided to ensure your success and enhance integrating you into various divisions.

Opportunities include, but are not limited to, clerical work, reception desks, disabled parking patrol, public awareness, Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Forensics, Crime Stoppers, Metro-Com (911), narcotics and vice cases, Animal Care Services, City Impound lot, building maintenance and beautification and much, much more!

If law enforcement does it, we have it! Complete the VIPS application process, and if accepted, you will experience an opportunity in an exceptionally rewarding career field which allows you to give back to the community, while enjoying the notion that YOU did something good for others in need.

Become a Police Chaplain

Police Chaplains assist Police Officers with various facets in law enforcement and specific interactions with citizens. These extraordinary public servants ride-along with police officers on patrol and respond to different occasions taking place in the area.

Disqualifiers

The following are disqualifiers for participating with a Law Enforcement agency:

Permanent Disqualification:

    • Felony Conviction
    • Felony Deferred Adjudication
    • Class “A” Misdemeanor Conviction
    • Class “A” Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication
    • Family Violence Conviction


10 Year Disqualification:

    • Class “B” Misdemeanor Conviction
    • Class “B” Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication


Disqualified until Disposition:

    • Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
